学习和工作经历 Madhava Meegaskumbura has formed my research group at Guangxi University (http://www.ecoevodevo.org) to study the interfaces between ecology, evolution and development, which provides exciting new opportunities to conserve biodiversity. Through my Ph.D. (Boston University, USA), and postdoctoral research (Harvard University, USA) as well as 7 years as a faculty member in higher education, I have developed expertise to use multiple approaches for investigating the rise, maintenance and demise of new lineages. My research has so far resulted 60 peer-reviewed publications which includes three papers published in SCIENCE and the discovery of 60 new species (amphibians, fish and a mammal) and 5 genera (two genera of frogs, and three genera of fish). My international leadership and contribution to conservation comes from my volunteer service as a co-chairman of the Amphibian Specialist Group Sri Lanka under the Species Survival Commission of IUCN. I am also a member of the IUCN's Amphibian Redlisting Authority, which spearheads global conservation efforts to preserve amphibians.

主要研究方向 Organisms come into being, develop, survive and reproduce, often giving rise to new lineages while interacting with the abiotic and biotic elements on Earth. Studying the interfaces between ecology, evolution and development provides exciting new opportunities in understanding patterns and processes of generation of biodiversity and processes of the web of life. Such knowledge provides the most stable platform to conserve biodiversity. We use multiple approaches in our analyses: molecular systematics, genomics, environmental and ancient DNA, morphology and morphometrics, bioacoustics, imaging, ecological modeling and many techniques in developmental biology. Though we do not emphasize on a study group, our lab has studied mostly amphibians and freshwater fishes, and we work mostly on Old World fauna.
